3 interpersonal roles:
- figurehead (symbolic head, perform routine duties of a legal or social nature)
- leader (motivation for subordinates, staffing, training and allocated duties)
- liaison (works with external contact to gather infomation)

3 information roles:
- monitor ( seeks and receives internal and external information)
- dessiminator ( information gathered frm subordinates and external contacts to organisation)
- spokesperson ( information frm organisation to outside organisation on plans results etc)

4 decisional roles:
- entrepreneur ( initiats improvement projects for organisation)
- negotiator ( reposibile for representation organisations in major negotiations)
- disturbance handler ( handles unexpected, important disturbances)
- resource allocator (allocate resources and make/approve decision)

human skills - ability to work individually or in grps with other ppl. important for all levels of management.

technical skills - job specific knowledge and techniques needed to perform specific tasks. for lower levels of managers.

conceptual skills - ability to handle abstract and complex situations. impt for high levels manager.

8 steps to decision making:

1. identify problems ( awareness of discrepancy, pressure to act, sufficient resources)
2. identify decision criteria
3. allocation weights to decision criteria.

8. evlauate alternatives.
